Sparrows harvesting sky clotted with micro bits
of bully-bugs zigzagging
on unseen airstreams with battling wings
beak-open and bent on bringing
feisty feast to yawning yellow mouths
nestled in the wind whipped branches
safe from these damned angry exiles
she swoops
a feather and a wing of longing are all that is left
in gray harbor of press-down sky
in this land of strangeness in new nesting
that leaves me in mouth-wide longing
I swat at another victim looking at me
as if I were shelter from a slide of storm
