The empty chair just sits there
It was suposed to be YOU sitting in that chair
You should have been there
You missed so much!
I wish I could say that you've changed with the birth of your other two children,
But I'm not sure that will ever happen
You are too wrapped up in your career to even say much,
Well, other then "That's too much makeup. I can barely see you!"
But you DON'T see me, maybe you never will
When I was in fifth grade, I won an award,
But you weren't there
You never were
Or like the time I broke my finger,
Playing FOOTBALL, even,
I'm not sure you even knew
I wanted you!
Not a Captin!
But YOU!
You're gone now, off to fight for our country
For all I know, I may never see you again
I wonder if that would be so terrible, though
I mean, you can't miss what you never had
And the empty chair was never filled.
