Autumn's Crown

Missing image

The cooling breeze that stirs the evening air
is natures way to signal seasons change,
with gilded rays the setting sun will share
and highlight all the colours in it’s range.

As Summer days give way to Autumn’s chill
a golden harvest fills the shorter days,
the patchwork of the countryside will thrill
with russets, browns and reds another phase.

The early morning blanket of the mist
makes necklaces of diamonds from the dew,
by frost the land will very soon be kissed
to add a certain sparkle to the view.

The earth before it sleeps puts on her gown
and Autumn shall provide the richest crown.

"necklaces of diamonds from the dew," reminded me of all those daisy chains we created as children, This is a lovely sonnet, I wish I could do so well .

This was a good poem that portrayed the beauty of Autumn very well. The rhyme scheme and flow were wonderful. The couplet at the end was my favorite part, but I liked all of it.

This is extremely beautiful! What a magnificent tribute to a season that is fast approaching us! Autumn is my favorite season of all...that is why I read this beautiful piece. The title reeled me in! It is a beautiful Shakespearian Sonnet as well! This poem is also rather educational for those who don't know what sonnets are or Shakespearian ones at that!
