My Friend ?

On this friendship day I’m wearing 2 friendship bands
Which I got from 2 unexpected friends
Yeah from the school boys who were just strangers in my thought
But now they are not.

Then it makes me remember someone on this day
Someone who’s in your thoughts everyday
Someone who’s name I call and tell God to protect her when I pray
But how do you feel what would you say ?
When the one you need the one you love doesn’t think about you the same way ?

As I take a look at this friendship band with my sad eyes
It says “Friendship Never Dies”
Now I’m starting to realize
As I go rewind thinking they must be all lies.
When you know this person is absolutely fine
This person who suppose to be a friend of mine
Whom I haven’t heard for a while there’s hardly any sign
As now my sky is covered with dark clouds and the sun refuse to shine.

Ok If she’s apart, I cannot hear her voice or her face I can’t see
She could sent me an email but no! My inbox remained empty
There were no such words or that text I accepted made me happy
Now I got this feeling its kind of creepy.

I have this memory of her saying “I love you, and I’ll never depart”
She called me her friend she called me sweetheart
I guess the TRUE LOVE for her so called pal was not in her heart
I guess this drama is now over she played her part
But how can you forget the one whom you accepted in your life as your own right from the start ?

Now I hear my inner voice saying at me “Shuberth you’re a piece of shit”
“You’re hurt in so many ways you’re no good to compete”
I try to ignore that voice for a bit
Then this person who fears God is calling out my name makes me want to quit
As I reflect on my life as I greet.

All alone on this high lonely mountain rock I stand
Where did I go wrong I cannot understand
Whom should I trust ? On whom should I depend ?
Who will give me hope when my life is coming to an end ?
As I look around there’s no one who can help me to mend
No one to express my feelings, no one to listen what I have to say, no one to land a hand
When you needed someone who doesn’t care about you, That’s what you call a friend ?

    God is always there, He is always your friend. Don't ever just give up. He didn't give up on us, so who are we to give up on Him. Friends come and go throughout our lives. I've lost many that I thought I'd have FOREVER. But it just wasn't meant to be. The thing I always try to remember is that things do trully happen for a reason. God makes sure of that ^.^

    My mind left me as I read this. It's not that it wasn't good it's just that my attention span is too short for this poem. So I'm sorry that I didn't the full aspect of this poem. But I say it was great. Friend is a word sometimes used too freely. There are actions that hold it true. Wonderful write.

    I know exactly how you feel. I've been extremely upset because I don't have a best friend, and the only person I can express my feelings to is my livejournal. While reading this I thought about that, and it's sort of nice to know that I'm not the only one. I reallllyy like the lines:
    "All alone on this high lonely mountain rock I stand
    Where did I go wrong I cannot understand"
    Overall, pretty good job!

    Sounds like a dark moment for you...to feel so alone. I could relate to some of the feelings you penned here. We've all had friends that were not there when we needed them, or just simply stopped being there at all. Powerful.

    That's heartbreaking.

    I've been on both sides of this. I've been the friend that changed and moved on. We don't mean to make you hurt, or most of us don't. I've also been the friend left behind. I've been hurt, and crying, and just wishing for things to go back.

    I love the last line, and how it ties into the title. Well done.

    "For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning."-Gibran

    This is poignant! One of the hardest things to come to terms with in life is that things and people change. Some people are players, it is true. There are others, who speak the truth of how they feel, but their feelings change like the seasons.

    In the end, all we really have are ourselves and what we believe in. sure, it's nice to be surrounded by family and friends who love us; but I don't totally count on that.

    It's difficult to face life alone on that mountain. Most of us find ourselves there at some point in our lives. There are those of us, who like a hermit, remain alone on that mountain top. Being up there, we see things that others don't, and we reach the stars!

    Friendship and love is a blessing. Many seek it and never find the true, real thing. When the real thing does come alone, it is very special - and never leaves us; at least not in our own hearts.

    I think it is very sweet of you to pray for her happiness. You are truly being a friend, even if she isn't. And, don't internalize it by thinking negatively about yourself. Just, take it as an experience in life, remember the good things, and move on to the better things. Thank you for sharing this with us here!

    p.s. the words on love by kahil gibran say it all!

    speechless

    This was wonderful poem-wise. Content-wise, I saw your heart break too many a time in this poem. I wish I could hold you in my arms, wipe all your tears away. I'd tell you that you're beutiful and special to me and that it's all gonna be okay. I know this hurts and I have a friend whose girlfriend just cheated on him so, with your permission, I'm sending this to him. I'm here for you, me and God, if no one else will stand in the gap and attempt to mend the broken-ness in your life. I love you and I'm always here Shuberth.

    SOUNDS more like a broken heart than

    a friend more like love than friend Love is like kahlil Gibran in his book the prophet writes about it .

    Kahlil Gibran on Love

    When love beckons to you, follow him,
    Though his ways are hard and steep.
    And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
    Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
    And when he speaks to you believe in him,
    Though his voice may shatter your dreams
    as the north wind lays waste the garden.

    For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
    Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
    So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

    Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
    He threshes you to make you naked.
    He sifts you to free you from your husks.
    He grinds you to whiteness.
    He kneads you until you are pliant;
    And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

    All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

    But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
    Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
    Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
    Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
    Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
    For love is sufficient unto love.

    When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of God."
    And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

    Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
    But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
    To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
    To know the pain of too much tenderness.
    To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
    And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
    To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
    To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
    To return home at eventide with gratitude;
    And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
