Beehive hair style white and streaked with gray
Still thinking about my best friend from yesterday
Sixty-two years old sitting wrapped in my plaid
Dreaming about all the joy we could have had
Standing by the light post sure to be seen
A vision of beauty every mans dream
You were so young and beautiful it broke my heart
You should have been in summer camp
Not dressed like a tart
Where were your parents did they even care
What did you live through that would put you there
Maybe when you ran away you were looking for a wonderland
Instead you ended up in the arms of any man
They say you were a most popular attraction
But a passing diversion a moment’s distraction
He went home to his family, put back on his ring
Just another encounter that didn’t mean a thing
Your chosen profession is older than time it self
In special circumstances might have led to wealth
Or just as easy a sapphire silk lined coffin
This scenario happens much, much more often
Why didn’t you stay that summer on the beach?
We had such dreams, together we would seek
Education was the plan we made for our future life
First excel in a career, and then be a mother and wife
My friend you could never see the beauty inside of you
As gentle as a rose with a head filled with honey dew
Never seeing danger believing life would never suck
Ending up kicked around like a hockey puck
I guess I’ll never know what really happened to you
Just remembering the good times is how I made it through
Late at night eating stuffed mushrooms and doing our nails
Singing crazy songs, going shopping looking for sales
The choices you made I wish could be undone
In our old age we could still be having fun
You disappeared from my life but I know
As sure as the flowers continue to grow
Soon I’ll see you once again
In heaven my sweet Rose, my forever friend
I know that God will surely let you in
With a smile she sighed and closed her eyes,
Here the story ends
