Perfect Tree

Standing in the forest
there is a perfect tree.
Waiting for the right one,
to cut her down you see.

She spent a lifetime growing
Straight and tight and strong.
She has a special purpose
And’s been waiting there so long.

Her grain has grown for beauty,
color fit for kings.
I never even looked at her
and did not suspect a thing.

My friend she came to visit me
and pointed out this tree.
We inspected her for hours
and figured this was meant to be.

I stood and rubbed her gently,
then slowly cut her down.
We did not let her come crashing,
but softly laid her on the ground.

We trimmed the bark off carefully;
so as not to waste a bit.
Cut her into flawless pieces,
making sure that each one fit.

We glued her all together,
took our time to do it right.
When we finished with this process,
she plain looked just otta sight.

We sanded her so smoothly;
she felt just like a pane of glass.
as we rubbed the stain upon her
she improved with every pass.

When the project was all finished
the total coats we counted nine.
She once again stands there triumphant
and will until the end of time.

Author notes

I am a carpenter and the beauty of wood is breathtaking as seen in mostly all fine furniture. Sometimes you just have to look deep within
