alive like spring,
blooms, like fresh buds
after each rainfall.
Winter will come
will it endure, life
like an evergreen?
Will the chill, prove
the season over
yet still, all worth the while?
Only time
makes us wiser,
creates stronger bonds.
If love remains
after the freeze
and the heat
next spring,
with the history of year,
love will have grown, matured
will still be flourishing,
and the questions
of the past
will fade into answers
and unfold like the petals
of a new season.
Author notes
Young love is can be such a wonderful time in one's life, a time I still cherish. Sex creates a bond that isn't meant to be broken. At a young age, we have no control over our environment, parents can move away for example. The emotions this bond creates is hard to imagine, while it is beautiful, it can create insecurities, and affect our self esteem. The relationship becomes more serious, both good and bad. If you aren't sure, then you need to wait. If it is a love that is meant to last, making love for the first time, at the right time, when you both are sure you are ready and the relationship has made it through some time and experiences, will strengthen your bond and love. On the opposit side, if it is rushed into, it is no less than heartbreaking.
No matter what, always protect your body. Don't do anything that will change your life permantently. Becomeing sexually active is a big responsibility make sure you are ready to take it on.
I am a woman in her 40's with a 17 1/2 year old daughter, who lost her virginity at 16. She is still with her boyfriend and they have a really good relationship, but she wishes she had waited just a little bit longer. She was so overwhelmed with emotion after the first time, she lost herself, just for a while, and now she knows she wasn't ready. Although, she is now a confident, happy, young woman.

What a pretty story line you took to define the life of the love..a beautiful touch of your heart is seen here within the words and the philosophy you poured through the words here..a great write you brouhgt here..well done... -
Hi Michelle,
I love this entry for so many reasons ~ it's soft, has some lovely imagery, good use of metaphors, and isn't quite so "in your face" as I think this subject tends to be simply because it's very personal and emotional in nature. I found your author notes a wonderful compliment to the entry and with a lot of wisdom and good advice, practically an entry itself.
It's wonderful to know you have a close relationship with your daughter and can talk about issues like this. I would guess that has a lot to do with her growing into the happy and confident young lady she is.
Thank you for entering, and good luck.

I know you and I disagree on when and how sexual intimacy can take place. We've had a few discussions on it.
While I disagree with some of what you said in your notes, I do strongly agree that intercourse creates a bond which should not be broken.
As for the poem, it is well done. Good metaphor as always sprinkled with mature wisdom throughout. -

It's a very important event in anyone's life, that first time. As a woman, I really can't be sure whether it is as important for a boy as for a girl. I imagine boys are still supposed to do the pursuing!!

the winter will come
and it may hold, life
like an evergreen
or the chill may prove
the season is over
although it was all worthwhile
i really like the seasonal transition ideas

Seasons of love.
This is an amazing write,
you describe the highs and lows of love in a subtle sort of way.
Much enjoyed
