This Goddess of golden

and fiery wings,

transcends the heavens

love and beauty she brings.

 

 

The power of love

her heart does ring,

with words so beautiful,

this angel does sing.

 

 

With all the love

for every creature alive,

in every conceivable,

way contrived.

 

 

Endless bounty of love from above,

heaven sent us this angel, of eternal love.

    A taspestry of beautiful words and exquiste rhyme. Its nice to hear the Phoenix being portrayed as a woman with fiery wings. A lovely slant briming with loviness. Great job, and good luck in the contest.

    great job. I was slightly distracted by the large font however and the twinkling star background. I like the border and think it would be nice on a solid background. Just personal taste however and not what you're being judged on.

    Not bad ...

    but the rules say no love poems. Then again, this is not quite a love poem, per se. It's more of a borderline premise.

    You've obviously not entered many of my contests, so you doubtless don't know that I hate inverted lines in poetry -- unless they are deliberately done for a powerful effect, and even then they should be used sparingly. I have serious reservations about using some form of the infinitive verb "to do" simply to add another syllable to a line, and that would disqualify this immediately if you sent it to a good literary journal.

    As to the idea of the poem, it's not a bad premise, and I certainly like the background.

    My advice is to keep writing. Contrary to popular belief, practice does not make perfect, but it certainly helps. (Something along the lines of the scene in "The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe", where the centaur says: "Numbers alone do not win a battle", and Mosely's character says "No, but I'll bet they help".)

    Effective use of grammar, spelling and punctuation do not make a perfect poem, but "they help".

    Wow- I love this, it's a beautiful background with a beautiful poem. Entirely captures the reader right from the start. Though enlarging the font makes it seem so grand.

    I also enjoyed the rhyme, I find it hard that you've entered this in so many contests and only have one reaping award. -- Not in comparison to anyones work, this holds a golden delight in my sight. ~ Right now I'm reading the poetry for what they are alone, and not comparing to any other. But, I really want you to know I do like this a lot you did a terrific job.
