The Power

You can’t have me.

I will make you hurt
disassemble apathy for blooming anarchy
a position needing total confidence
and utter stupidity...

but I have it all baby.

I don’t know how many times
I have to tell you to leave me alone.
I don’t want to talk,
I don’t want to fight-

I want to be left alone tonight
just let me be here
with my thoughts and insecurities.

Control-

I want control.
I want to be religion,
I want to be government
I want the power;
the push
the pull to make it all happen
to make it wrong,
to make it right

Fuck;

to make it the way I want it
without caring about anyone else;
I want to be the Pope.

Send me away
to wear my hat and sashes,
marching up to altars
with my scepter and rings
to signify the immense ascendancy
of my wealth and vanity
grotesquely powerful
and arbitrarily meaningful.

When I die
I will move presidents,
I will move nations
I will push a planet of little nothings
to believe in my nothing
and that gives me

POWER.

Author notes

Well tell you what, there's a little rhyme, deal with it. This is basically why we suck. There are way too many of us that think this way and there are way too many of us.

    There are punctuation and spacing issues in this piece, but contents-wise...my hat's off to you!! This is hard-hitting, truthful and impacts upon the reader greatly...well done with it.
