The snow gently pulls
night’s shade down,
leaving only a remembrance
of the light.
I stand waiting…
waiting for the touch
of memories that softly
stir within…
like a flake of snow,
more seen than felt.
I remember that each
snowflake is unique and
wonder why my memories
are always the same.
I wait…
on the very spot you
returned to me.
Washed up, a grotesque
reminder of what you were,
a victim not a person any longer.
Perhaps I come here each year
to remind myself you are gone.
Like the snow around me,
your memory touches but
quickly melts… leaving no
taste, no warmth, no trace…
…only a hint of liquid sadness
which slowly trails down my
cheek…
… and freezes as it reaches
my heart.

Wow this is incredibly sad and full of emotion. What an amazing write for the picture Ken.. I love it!

this to me was an extremely sad piece that you have written. some memories are more painful than others. this poem touched me and pulled at the heart strings, alright so maybe they yanked them a bit too hard. this is a very emotional heartfelt poem that is not only dark, but digs deep and hits hard.
you did an excellent job with the prompt, and a Fantastic job with the poem
good luck

Thank you... it's a bit dark for my usual taste but that's how it felt... What can I say? Blame it on my muse

A most definitive work, displaying memories in an emptiness. The words cling with each line, forming an over all feeling of depression and longing for another, past time.
