My Life, My Friend, My Love (Gold trophy)

You are my reason for living,
my reason for taking a breath.
I made a promise to love you,
until we part in death.

Together we built a good life,
here on God's green earth.
Respecting each other's privacy,
knowing what each is worth.

We have become one together,
reading the other's mind.
Memories we share over the years,
these are the ties that bind.

I will always love you
You are my very best friend
If ever you would leave me
my heart would never mend

You are my reason for living,
you are the reason I breathe.
I will love you always,
until the end of my days.

Thanks Joan, I was not all that young...or perhaps I was. I had just graduated from High School and of course that is what was expected in those days...get married, have a family and grow old together...so I did just that...I have not regreted one moment of it all...how lucky I concider myself...of all the choices in my life I made the ultimate right one...

How beautifully endearing! I like the use of end rhyme to cap off the stanzas, it gives the poem a nice connectivity. Peace be with you , Dannie

Until I read the author notes I thought for certain you were talking about me!

    Bob's reply:

"That is beautiful dear, thank you...when you get a chance could you make me a cup of coffee...and a danish." Men and women see love differently...guys like coffee and a snack...a full belly is a sure sign of love to us.

A wonderful tribute...who knows maybe he'll make you the coffee this time!

    Dear Darlene,

That the best marriages are not necessarily between passionate lovers but, more importantly, between couples who become best of friends during the years of their union, is strongly underlined in your meaningful poem.
I am sure that Bob will be touched by the sincerity of your words as by the wifely dedication.
Best of luck in the contest and may I wish you both many more years of happy friendship and love together.
With applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

What a lovely poem, Darlene. And a wonderful dedication to you and Bob's marriage and friendship. Has he read this? I hope he does. He already knows you love and appreciate him, just as he does you, and seeing that you express this openly and sincerely in your poem is sure to please him very much.
I've always thought of how good your marriage is, your entire relationship. I've even been a little envious at times.

This is a winner of a poem, contest of not.

    love and
