As we draw close to one another
I love you so deeply
And long to show you
Any way I can
But even though we both long for that day
We know it is not now
And because our love is true
We know we can wait
For then that day shall be sweeter
More wonderful
Than we could ever experience now
Hold me my love
That is enough for this moment
And as we await our wedding night
Let our love
Be the guardian of our bodies
Author notes
i am 21 and my boyfriend is 22. i am a virgin and he has had sex with one other woman. (which he sadly regrets)
we have both made the decision to wait until we are married to have sex.
we both want to follow God and do things the right way.
it is difficult because we love each other. and yet it is that same love that gives us the strength to wait.
never for a moment have i regretted our decision. if anything, waiting has drawn us closer in so many ways.

In some ways, that's a wise decision. I wonder if more young people are making that decision now.

i hope so

A beautiful poem/promise in front of us all and God. You are in the minority for sure but I do praise you for your conviction. God will bless in a great way.

yes, we know that we are in the minority, but that just encourages us even more. the last thing we want is to follow the crowd.

Hi there

I have no doubt either, you'll have zero regrets about the decision you've made.
I can see where this would definitely be a difficult choice, but it's wonderful you've both made and are sticking to it. A pastor once told me sex is the ultimate form of communication, because you're telling someone, in a physical way, how you feel about them. So...when you really love someone...yes, it would be incredibly hard not being able to "say" everything you want...but at the same time, it does make you communicate better on other levels, in an attempt to express those feelings. Thus, the "if anything, waiting has drawn us closer in so many ways." comment you made in your AN.
I love the last lines of the poem in particular...
"Let our love
Be the guardian of our bodies"
I believe that love and your faith in God will carry you to your wedding night...and beyond. The best part is that even though he's been with one other woman, you'll still, both, basically be learning the ropes together without so much of the "baggage" many people carry around with them, from previous relationships. Okay, maybe that isn't really the VERY best part but it is an important element, at least IMO.
Thank you so much for sharing this in the contest, and I wish you both a world of happiness together. I hope that wedding day is coming soon!
Good luck and best wishes,
~J. -

thanks so much for the encouragement.
it actually means a lot.
and yes, one of the things we are very thankful for is the fact that we haven't been with a lot of different people. so we're not constantly wondering how we compare and all that. it's wonderful to know that you are someone's one and only. and in his case, we've tried to put that former mistake behind us knowing that that was his life before. and he has a new life now.

This is so sweet
Good on ya for waiting, i admire that in a person
"Hold me my love
That is enough for this moment
And as we await our wedding night
Let our love
Be the guardian of our bodies"
All the best in life and may your wedding day be the wonderous joy it will be
