I closed my eyes today
Just so they’d be closed at the time
That yours would be
Nap time, you took a snooze
I don’t know what you saw
Or if you dreamt at all
But when I closed my eyes
For that moment- the things I saw
Were extravagant
I saw us dancing to bad music
Belonging on a country station
At a small school senior prom
Having fun, and mocking
Blissful together
I saw us cuddling up on my bed
Watching a movie, falling asleep
Your fingers in my hair
My head placed on you
Blissful together
I saw us driving to Bangor
Laughing, singing, talking
We had smiles on our faces
And laced fingers as I shifted
Absolutely blissful together
Then I had to open my eyes baby
Because I was needed elsewhere
Our long distance nap, came to an end
But in that moment I was happy
Seeing a blissful extravaganza
On the back of my eyelid
