she always looks so perfect
in that neon light
she doesn't care what those people do
as long as THEY have fun
she says she likes attention
that's why she is on stage
but if they really knew her
they'd know she just needs money
for years she has been trying
to be a mom who cares
but how can she look after her daughter
AND bring some money home?
a smile is painted on her face
to hide her fear inside
but as long as THEY don't notice
everything is fine
at three a.m. her job is done
she's finally heading home
neon lights sing her lullaby
when she goes to sleep

I really liked the descriptiveness in this peice. You really made me feel sympathy for the "working girl" with your words. Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.
