A FRIEND (twin triolet) – Non Entry.

A FRIEND (twin triolet) – Non Entry.

Most blessed he that has a friend
who understands his ways
but does not easily offend.
Most blessed he that has a friend
who, his mistakes will comprehend,
yet offers not false praise.
Most blessed he that has a friend
who understands his ways.

Most blessed he who has a friend
that he can call his own
who always has an ear to lend.
Most blessed he who has a friend
remaining constant to the end
who will not let him die alone.
Most blessed he who has a friend
that he can call his own.

    very true

We only need one, though it is pleasant to have several good friends. Just one to understand and listen makes the world a better place. Thank you for your friendship, Hugh.

Friends are just one of mankind's mutual assets of the heart. Your poem is a beautiful tribute to friendship, Hugh, and as always very well written.

    Dear Hugh,

To have a friend you can rely on and tell your innermost secrets too is a blessing that one must nurture with love as true friends are very rare.
Like me, you have made many lifelong friends on Allpoetry. I count my blessings that you are one of my most precious friends. Our friendship means a lot to me and having met in person makes it doubly special.
    A lovely triolet my friend.
    Love Bea

Winslow Homer lived in Maine for a time and we claim him as one of our own.

Beautiful poem, filled with wisdom. It actually reminds me a little of MargaretG's writing, in subject and in style...reflective, instructive tone and with the distinctive triolet pattern.

You would win your own contest I do believe...unless I enter my epic, "Friends, Take Out The 'r' And What Do You Have?" poem.

      Dear Yem,

I read today (but now it's gone!) 'bout Coelho's great friend
who's a giraffe that Angie says will never make a noise
but you go round his other end, lift up his tail and sharply bend,
then pull it hard three times (because that certainly annoys),
take two steps back, avoid his crack and, if you turn around,
you'll surely find, from his behind, he'll make a def'nite sound!
I found this way day after day when visiting the zoo,
is practic'ly infallible so I pass it on to you.....
but don't step in the poo!!

Thanks for your comment and applause, mate!
