Rights for Racists

If you look over this great wide world
There are many different races.
Some are pure-caste, some are swirled.
When I look upon so many faces
I cannot help but wonder about those
With no tolerance for other skin.
How dull our world would be if we chose
To isolate those who do not fit in.
I choose my friends based on mind and heart.
I admire what is deep inside.
Racists are blind from the very start.
They only tolerate their own tribe.

In this country it is your right to spew
Obscene messages of racial hate.
I defend that right. But, it is true
That I will despise your ugly trait.
And, if it should ever come to pass
That you cause my mixed grandkids pain
I will come down on your racist ass.
Your ideas are a putrescent stain.
Spread your ignorance, bile and hate.
I don't care if you are white or black.
You are doomed to the dinosaur's fate.
Times are changing now and won't change back.

Author notes

Prompt No. 4 - Racial prejudice

I was introduced to my daughter's fiance after I reserved space in this contest. He is a very intelligent native of Kenya and a future pastor. I have never tolerated the intolerant well. I despise racists.

I understand those who do not marry outside of their race. This thought occurs in all races. Physical attraction is important in many relationships. Racial superiority is a joke. It is used by the inferior to feel better about themselves.

I also feel that no one race is exempt from it. Being a victim of racism does not give you a pass to be racist in turn.

Exactly, friend ...all races bear hatred in some form or other, and all of us should push that garbage as far away as possible. Congratulations to your daughter, and thanks for a great poem.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I have never put up with this. I will admit to an occaisonal stereotypical joke. Some of them, can be funny. I accept them about my own heritage as long as they are not meant as out and out humiliation. There is a very fine line and what is funny and acceptable to one person may be offensive to another.

The thing I find the most offensive is someone that is very sensitive about their own race but insensitive about others.
About a year ago I was talking in a group of people, and one of the group was talking about being "jewed" in a business deal. He felt he had been cheated. The offended party said he should it was wrong to use that word and said he should choose another like "gyped". I told him that also had a racist connotation as it described being cheated by gypsies. He replied that it did not matter because he was sure there were no gypsies around. When I told him that I was part gypsy he accused me of starting an arguement.

My point is it goes both ways. No one is exempt or we all are. Better yet use common sense.

Sorry for being long winded. This subject gets me fired up.

      Mike

Everyone has likes and dislikes. There are groups of people who I don't understand and values that I do not like. However, too hate all people from a group due to skin color or cultural heritage is the epitome of ignorance. I am an American Mutt. Several of my ancestors came from stock that was considered to be racially inferior.

Racism is for Nazis and the KKK.
