Wild Bluebells

It was only a bluebell,
your first gift to me.
I carressed it
laughed with it
cradled it softly
but it faded.

When it was over
I smiled to see
rivers of bluebells
in the forest
waving to me
in the soft breeze.

I plucked one
and instantly felt
the chill of discord:
it did not touch me;
my soul was bruised.

I gaze longingly now
but never reach for
those waving bluebells:
there was only one
that reached for me

and it is no more.

This is beautiful and yet so very sad, that everytime you see a river of bluebells, you feel that ache in your heart. A very moving write, and it did touch my heart...

    God bless,
    Love and light.

    Simplicity always wins hands down!

Sentimental yes ... but beautifully romantic.
Test: Each stanza is integral to the whole in its ordering and precisely coherent within itself. The first stanza sets the scene; the story of the poem or lyrical adventure into feeling.
I admire the fine metaphor of stanza two.
Stanza three offers a symbolic contrast in love spent.
The final stanza reiforces the penultimate one.
Thank you for a beautiful poem.
    Ron.

this little poem reminded me never to be second best and another love would not replace what i was already feeling you can only move on when your heart is ready and not before it a great read

    Enjoyable read

I can't ever remember seeing bluebells, still I've seen photos so I know the imagery you've painted here, sad and beautiful moments interwoven, love and nature. Well done.

This reminded of the The Little Prince's rose

I guess we don't have wild bluebells over here

the sentimentality of certain things that other objects could not replace with

This is a little sad but it is beautiful.

The nostalgia tears at my heart... To look at a flower that once held such meaning and love everlasting, to feel the emptiness that took its place... I can imagine it, the breezy fields of gorgeous blue all around, the warm kisses of sun and the memories of your love. Exquisite. It left a scar on your heart. I caress my own in knowing sympathy. Excellent piece, my friend. As always, you capture beauty in sadness. The background is fantastic. Kudos to Ms. Luna, . It really made the poem come to life. Divine. And brill, as you so fondly say, lol.

    Love and inspiration,

    ~S.

A bittersweet and most poignant read here, a fine use of short lines (not always so easy to bring off) a charming lover's lament in a well appointed metaphor, most deftly and neatly done.... bravo!!

Very sad heart tugger, but memories like nature will live on forever, make the most of them, treasure and learn from time. Great write.

Very haunting poem. The comparison between the lovely bluebell and love is one that I find intriguing. At the beginning of the poem you mention someone giving you the bluebell, as a gift... So in this sense my hypothesis on what you mean in the poem is a bit off... I truly like this write, I'd like to understand it... help?

I can, however, easily perceive your attachment, your love for that bluebell, but no longer can you reach in fear of it fading away again. Perhaps the time will come again when one will reach towards you just one more time...

Often flowers and love are so intertwined we take it for granted, but this poem is a refreshing look at the relationship. Bluebells are so pretty and this is a lovely way to express love gained and lost and also love unattainable. Course I could be way off on this one haha. As always great poem

This is a fine and beautiful image of nature and of a lost love. The color and the soft breeze are easy to imagine; and who does not remember that numbing ache of love's goodbye?

Not everything has to leave like that. Sometimes we realise that the best is just to live ourselves - because this world and its people are too ugly.
