Flutter past me,
thoughts o'plenty,
sing the songs of time.
Light has left me
- the night it calls -
for me to shut my eyes.
Time cares not for what it takes,
or what it leaves behind.
The winds that speed around this place
tell us that it's only here to die.
I've done enough,
said too much,
bitten off more than I can chew.
But still you winds
refuse to take me
into the horizon's blue.
Haven't I proven myself a trophy
worthy of your efforts.
Or am I still a child to you -
a dime a dozen treasure?
I've hoisted the sails,
I've removed the anchors,
I'm ready to ship out.
For I know,
in but a couple years,
I'll forget what life's about.
So hurry wind, come to me
with your harbingers of wrecking plague.
For I would rather pass in the fruit of youth
than with a soul this dry and vague.
Tell me what you think
