Winter World of White

Silver snow drifts past my face,
Settling at my feet.
A gentle wind nudges me,
Urging me into the haze.
Snowflakes swirl all around,
So different and yet so alike.

The untouched ground beckons gently,
So soft to the touch.
I seem to float to the snowy floor,
Carried by the breeze.
Crystals shine just above my head,
So close and yet so out of reach.

Fragile flakes cluster on my eyelashes,
And encircle my head like a crown.
Decked out in a wardrobe of white,
The snow replaces precious gems.
As I close my eyes I feel the snow's touch,
So tender and yet so harsh.

The dark trees are the piano,
And the snow are the keys.
As the snow falls,
It plays out an eternal Moonlight Sonata.
An irreplacable melody,
So mortal and yet so everlasting.
