Time passes,
growing older,
solitude begins
surrounding me;
thoughts succumb
to memories,
reflections.
Walking
in summer fields
butterfly flutters
crickets chirp;
I am never alone.

nope, we're never really alone with butterflies & little creatures flying around us in beautiful fields...it is true though, I think the older we get, the less surrounded by people we are...it all depends though, generally speaking, I suppose....
I think there is always something to make us feel connected to something else...I used to work with a woman who led a very solitary life & her best friend was a raccoon, she told me this...I wonder if that's why she led a solitary life. I never knew her well enough to really know...lol
thanks very much for your entry.

Lovely picture to illustrate your poem.
Provocative notion that solitude grows as time passes.
Solid take on the prompt, I'd say.
Thanks for this.

Your picture got my attention..How like the prairies..the round bales and the wildflowers.. It brought thoughts of contemplation and muse...Your words are lovely..Imagery is alive as are the sounds..What a lovely short write..and how one would reflect in this setting..Love it!

I read a poem that reminded me of this one in sentiment just moments ago called, I believe, Family Trees. http://allpoetry.com/poem/4478493
I hope this isn't considered spamming!
Anywho, back to you.
I do like this poem. It is simple and elegant, and gives me the urge to let loose a contented sigh.
Very well done,

I like this, I hope when all is said and done, I can reflect like this...
