Some things never change
So simple and deranged
Like an anchor in this ocean
Tied tight to my bones and

To pull me out of this nightmare

The calm before the storm
The peace before this war
Now all I feel is thunder

As waves come crashing down

Deeper in this disaster

this is a beautiful poem, and a pleasant surprise from all the forced rhymes I've been reading lately. you did a fantastic job with this and I really related. It nearly sounds like song lyrics...great write!
