The Old Towns Gone

Missing image

Looking around I see things changed
landscape so different, it’s rearranged,
what once were here, part of my past
I thought was built to always last.

Casting my view to yonder field
I see now stands a brand new build,
where once in corn I used to play
estates of houses there now lay.

Closing my eyes to memories known
in disbelief how this towns grown,
times are recorded when I was young
before this growth of concrete sprung.

Walking to where I used to live
so many thoughts my mind now give,
would my old house still exist
or simply have vanished, like a mist?

Many years have since now flown
what of home will I be shown?
where as a child I lived and grew
maybe as the rest it’s new.

So true for many areas now-build build build-though for the moment with the financial climate in a mess matbe things will slow up.

You do have a strong point in this poem. Things do change, and it changes fast. Not even I can find my old birth place any longer.
I liked it before, when you had cute small houses, now its all bricks and glass. Dosent even look good to the eye.

Best of luck in the contest!

    A fine piece.

It is kind of sad to go back and see that things are so altered. I understand this well
