Author notes
I created this poetry form, which I called POETIC SIDE SLIDE, for treatment in my meta-therapy workshops. The poem is writing in several stanzas of fall and of rise, of seven lines each. Note that the first line should at least carry nine words, and this line is then written in decline, by taking away the end word as the poem progresses, until the core is reached of being stripped to a condition of sorrow ... Then the resurrection follows, in the second stanza, where the same line is reconstructed, by adding the omitted words one at a time, until the beginning of optimum thought is restored.
The poem is not only deeply reflective of nature, but also beautiful in repetition and in form -- implementing the reinforcing chant of love and of peace.
The richness and texturedness of the first sentence in each stanza will determine the success of the poem, and also the depth of reflecting.
The stanzas may be linked to form a group poem. One can even write an entire compilation based only on this form. Also: each poet may grow and write progressively towards healing, over several months or even years. Reading this out loud, individually or as a group, bring the beauty of difference in voice to the forth ... and also enhance the feeling of being whole even in brokenness.
God made us whole. We may slip into decay and into turmoil, but the resurrection towards joy and towards peace is possible in this life ... for Eternity is inside the soul.
Artwork: MML 2008 -- Poetic Side Slide: I did this artwork to illustrate healing. Even in the Sorrow-side of the slide, left, in darkness, the golden Thread is present, and in the Joy-side, right, of the slide, the darkness is present -- the latter to prepare us and to remind us of the wholeness that awaits us in the Life Hereafter.

The form is interesting in the chanting way of evoking peace, the main lines are lovely, the repeated words of "twisted, muted, crying" are overshadowing the "singing praising whispering" maybe it works as a balance and that is what peace is about.

Creative and mystical, this form combined with
carefully chosen words seem to feed an endless
flow as in chanting. And this is what I feel,
a chant has been painted before me and it does
offer a sense of calming...a very real display
of cycles and our peace in accepting them. Blue

wow myra, you have truly touched my core with this magical poetic form which immediately resonated with something within me that told me that it is not only a form of poetry, but a deeply transformational and healing therapeutic tool ... your enlightening author's notes have underlined and enriched my first impressions ...
please reflect upon my recent email-proposal to write an article about "a spirituality without god, is it possible ?" for the swiss self-help magazine ...
I can see a possible answer to this question through the approach of this poetry form ... don't you ?
these lines say it all :
"God made us whole. We may slip into decay and into turmoil, but the resurrection towards joy and towards peace is possible in this life ... for Eternity is inside the soul."
anyhow, whatever your decision, I love you !!!
your devoted little sister

Ah Bill!
There are several Bills on Allpoetry but Quabben Bill is not very often coming to visit. How are you, Poet? It is good to see you!
And as always, you just pick up poetic strings as if you were never gone ...
Thank you very much for reading and commenting, Bill. Do you miss South Africa? I bet you do ... England does not have our sun!
Sending you biltong and ginger beer greetings, Friend.
Love
Myra

Your form is the very definition of [K]reativ[e]. Sliding from sorrow to joy and back again is the first step in the healing process that gives life meaning. I wish you well in the contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

Ah Leo ...
In this life we often slide from JOY ... INNOCENCE ... to sorrow ... and the restoration is what we all should endeavor in our interpersonal relationships. All the KREATIV workshops start off with remembering our roots, then going to sorrow, and then back to our roots again ... In order to leave us in the end with a definite demonstration of our full potential of powerful healing. Poetry and prose as well as any form of creative expression is much part of the whole of the approach. I also love any form of repetition, for the verbalization of such reinforces the message.
Thank you for the comment, Leo, and for being a loyal reader.

I have never encountered this type of poetry before but when you read the mirror effect of the joy and the angst it works so very well. And each stanza presented tells us what is necessary and what is sadness. I enjoyed this very much. Love, C

Ah Cheryl!
I am not amazed that you did not read it before, for it is brand-new ... I created it for my next workshop, on August 16, 2008. I am so glad that I could enter it in this contest, for it shall be good if it can be implemented in all the healing programs throughout the world! So: care to start with that in Australia?
The wonderful thing about this form is: every member of the group may start off with a personalized line of focus ... And has to RECALL a state of utopia, so to speak. Subconsciously it carries with it hope, and reinforcement of the origin of being.
I pray when preparing for every workshop, and God is very much present in every line written ... and THIS form, the Poetic Side Slide, came to be during the sermon last Sunday in church, delivered by Dr. Frans de Bruyn: the focal point being that THANKSGIVING should be in the BEGINNING of all our efforts, and NOT after; that we should live in accordance to the divine gratitude for all God IS to us, in order to be able to be grateful, EVEN in hardship. And well, because this is the way I approach my daily life, I immediately got the inspiration to create a visual poem to DEMONSTRATE our divine state ... and this form presented itself.
