Tarotic Vision Quest - 00 The Fool

Missing image

The path of life’s a wonderful occasion
to fill our souls with virtue while we walk.
But body-mind, so hungry for evasion,
will soon forget the art to walk its talk.

Coyote’s Spirit joins the initiation
and teaches sacred wisdom with a smile.
He guides us far beyond the limitation
of time and space that trick us for a while.

While challenges of life may make us humble -
and playground of the world’s a perfect school -
in order to get up each time we stumble,
we truly need the courage of a fool.

Like Parsifal, the legendary hero,
the liberating question we don’t ask.
Birth after birth, our clock goes back to zero,
life after life, we don’t fulfil our task.

Illusionary castle tricks our senses,
projection by our own illusioned mind,
scenario of captured King entrances,
invented mission - yet the hero’s blind.

Because we bond ourselves to “what they’ve told us”
and rarely seek the truth that dwells inside,
not recognizing Grail that lies before us,
in ignorance’s swampland we abide.

So, here we are again, with best intentions
for one more round on karma’s carousel,
to lift the veil of ego-mind’s pretensions
and break duality’s hypnotic spell.

Will we succeed or carry on forever
to search the glasses sitting on our nose ?
Stay in the clouds or seek the Sun, whatever …
Your path will always be the one you chose.

Author notes

A NON-ENTRY ...

since I am sponsoring this contest with points, I would like to ask
the judge to refrain from awarding me any trophies and/or points in this contest-series ...
I would like to participate just for the joy of it ...
thank you

***

an intuitive approach of the transformational magic of tarot ...
bridging tradition with contemporary insights and my own integration
of the wisdom of non-duality ...
probably an explosive cocktail that might be poison for some -
and nectar to others ...

***

I have around 20 different tarot-decks, all sorts, except the
classical "marseille-deck" ... that's my aquarian side of
exploring new ways ... and my wolf-totem encouraging me to be
a pathfinder, and not a follower ...

that's what the fool-card is also about : breaking free from
tradition and beliefs of old, letting faith and innocence guide us ...

our hero parsifal of the arthurian legend, must break free from
his generational ties (the "spell" from his fusional relationship to his mother,
who only let him become a knight after promising her to never
ask any questions (which made him fail in his mission to ask
THE QUESTION : "whom does the Grail serve", the first time he
enters the castle where the fisher-king is agonizing),
to be respectful and distant to fair ladies (which prevented
him from knowing true love) and to wear the garment his mother
knitted for him to protect him (which created an armour around
him that burdened him) ...

I also wish to present the associated totem-animal-spirit-guides
in this contest-series, for they truly connect us to the earthly
incorporation of the energies that the intellectual concepts of
tarot suggest ...

here we have coyote-spirit, the "trickster" of the animal-world ...
he is known to lead those who use cheating or trapping, or who
are overly naïve, into their own pitfalls ... he appears to those
who abuse their powers or who take themselves too seriously ...
guiding them to learn to laugh about their own ignorance ... laughing
will liberate those tendencies and transform them into humility ...
coyote's medicine is not destructive but healing ...
he is known as the one "who teaches wisdom with a smile" ...

    Hello Maa.

Once again, I do state my ignorance about Tarot Cards, but I do get the references to Sir Percival and his quest. I agree with a lot of things you say in this piece, but I have to admit there are things I am not willing to say, as they may feature in something I have been working on for ages, hahaha.

Your write again, is easy free flowing, nothing forced, rhythm and rhyme, and as you are not taking part in the contest as such, I hope you enjoy the other entries and they yours.

    My regards.

    Spiritual and scholarly

So filled with knowledge and knowing... around and around the Arcana wheel we turn, hoping each time to more deeply learn to see "...the glasses sitting on our nose...". Each day, each task, each moment presents another chance to leap unencumbered into the arms of What Is, with the strength of faith and the power of innocence to spread as our wings.

Thank you for this beautifully formed and deeply expressed explication of the nature of the Fool.

Be blessed and ever foolishly free,

    Rahad

    I'm learning much

Am intrigued by your collection of Tarot - having a reading myself only once - felt under a cloud until it completed.
I'll try to glean advice as I may & adore your work in the meantime. Love the adventure of the Grail.
    Your froggy legged brother
    Tangy,

thorough, complete and flawless in both the intuitive and the logical grasp of the 'fool'. This is 'without a doubt' the best piece in the contest to this point. I like your approach. I like it, period. Mairi said it was good. She's right. You are an exceptional scholar. Thanks for gracing this contest with an extraordinary work.

Interesting - you use an illustration that is about as far away from the oldest representation of Le Mat, but come up with a strong impression of a journey, a wandering. The Marseilles pack shows The Fool with a stick and pack, his eyes on a horizon we can't see, blissfully unaware of the terrier nipping at the seat of his trousers.

I love this, as I love all your poetry.

thank you, dear one, for the link and your precious feedback ... I have added abundant author's notes to the poem now, which explain my approach ... indeed, I love to create a rainbow-bridge between tradition and the new aquarian age ...

      much love,

    BRILLIANT,

BIRTH AFTER BIRTH OUR CLOCK GOES BACK TO ZERO,

    TO BEGIN AGAIN.

TO BREAK DUALITY'S HYPNOTIC SPELL .

    TO SEE THE ILLUSION.

WE NEED TO STEP OUT OF THE BOX.

YOUR WISDOM GOES FAR BEYOND THE EGO AND LEADS STRAIGHT TO THE TRUTH,

    AMAZING PLEASURE.

WE CAN LEARN SO MUCH FROM YOU.
