darkness swallowed me whole like a sushi roll;
it devoured my raw flesh
in a matter of quickened heartbeats,
it consumed my heartstrings one by one
steadily lowering my heart to digestion,
and then it sipped the salty condensation
off attending take away -
finally fully engorged.
