To want something, one must desire it
When one reads a great poem from Robert Frost collection
Deep down I desire to write something profound and timeless
I was not gifted with great grammar skills or profound ideas
Some say, I am not really a poet,I just express my feelings
Deep down how many poets thought they would make it
Many wrote thoughts of their life and how the world thinks
Deep down I think we all have a little poet in us
For this is what makes the world a bearable place
A simply phrase or quote that touches one soul
Friend gives us a copy of a poem in the time of sorrow
I think words are a gift we give to others
Nor do I think poems are all about me
In my heart I can write about, what I relate to
I have had my sets back in writing area
This is part of the brain that was damaged
Deep in me, I may not be a great poet
Not all of us can be great
It about sharing a passion about the written word

Nice approach! Very honest and simple, yet substantial! Well done. Good Luck for the contest!

Keep writing...
Keep writing; forget the naysayers, develop your own unique style and ignore comparisons. --Joe -
i consider myself a learning imagist, poet, writer...or none of the above...one day ill perhaps be a notion to someone other than myself such...till then...ill jot my thoughts somewhere on the internet..just to leave a mark

Please hang in there with your poetry, it is all a learning experience, read more reap more I say. Not many do make it, especially today, I think you need to get lucky or be dead for at least fifty yrs, but at least we can be heard,
