Of which you'd rather forget
You try and look to the good side
Where ever that may be
Dying isn't as bad
As people make it seem
Just look at you, the picture of health
Stronger, than most of us ever will be
Thought you just want
To focus on what's most important
You want to leave something
For your children to remember you by
Kisses and hugs would last a day
Words, maybe weeks
Trips and events, years
But, something like this would last forever
So with months left to live
You speak to millions
About how to achieve their dreams
Before it's too late
You'll always be remembered
By people you never even knew
When your children grow up
How blessed will they be, to have a father such as you
After, you became sick
That strength fading
Still, you were granted more time
Maybe it's karma, like you believed in
Your wife and kids beg you to stay
Despite that, you grow even weaker
That extra time has run out
It's time to leave
Now you have passed on
The cancer has taken your life
Another great man,
Lost to the clutches of the world beyond
But, as you look down on what's important
Your spirit forever lives on
The impression you made in this world
Will never fade, not even with time
Author notes
Randy Pausch was a man beyond words, and who's life was lost to pancreatic (sp?) cancer July 25th, 2008. He made The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,as I'm sure some of you may have heard about. Thoughts and prayers go out to Jai and children. Go watch it, it's really something that can't be described
I'm not sure what Randy's view on God and such is, but I'm sure he's happy and not in pain now, wherever he is, and he'll see his family and friends eventually.

This is really really well written. Randy's story is so sad but so beautiful and your poem really compliments the story. Wonderful job with this.
