What makes me a poet
Well it is many things
For one I like to write
I enjoy Church bells when they ring
I see beauty in so many things
So I often write about them
I hear beauty in Birds that sing
Joining in every now and again
I like to write about Nature
Her charm and loveliness
I like to think I'm an artist
With words I give you my best
For if one reads a beautiful poem
To carry around in one's mind
The beauty will soon travel to the heart
And peacefulness you will find
My words will paint you a picture
On God's canvas in the Sky
You can rest upon a cloud
And dream as you float by
For the mind can take you anywhere
You could even be a King
Or maybe you're a Knight in armor
A choirboy that sings
Once can write of many things
If you are a poet true
Giving the mind more beauty
The mind in me and you

What a beautiful and heartfelt write! Amazing imagery and emotion, yes being a poet we can write about anything and be who we want. I loved this good luck in the contest

This is a really good poem. I think you described really well what makes a good poet and said that anybody could be one if they wanted to.
I see beauty in so many things
So often I write about them
For if one reads a beautiful poem
To carry around in one's mind
The beauty will soon travel to the heart
And peacefulness you will find. -
