The face I turn upon the world
is that which I desire,
to mask my imperfections,
to raise estimation higher.
Of all the masks I choose to keep
aligned upon the shelf,
the saddest is the one reserved
to use upon myself.

Bravo!
Glad to see this one a trophy
'cause it's worthy.

Great content, timing, rhyme & word choice. Full of power though a short write. This is the sign of a sharp poet.
Well done.

It is amazing how many masks people wear, how many walls they feel they need to put up. It is even more sad how people are treated when they lower the lask for a period of time, when they lower their defences. I wonder what the world would be like if none of us masked who we are, if none of us needed to defend ourselves against others. Everything would be so diffrent if we could see who people really are inside.

So sad.. yet I think so many of us can relate to this!! The face we turn to the world and the masks we wear can indeed just leave us full of sadness and feeling unauthentic!
A lovely take, thank you!
