as if the world had called for a new reason to have lightning
in the evening or bullet holes on broadway, you showed up
unexpectedly.
rage surfaced like drowning earthworms,
as i remembered what i was once told
by the fox:
"anything essential is invisible to the eyes,
it's only with the heart that you can see clearly"
and as i recognized you, my heart would rather have withered
in dry heat than be seen with you.
but you spoke.
the fox said nothing about hearing what was right.
the world i had built of flesh and stone became a trinket,
personal decisions and soundness of mind
gave way to animal magnetism;
quivering before the stability of your iron-clad
insisting that you be forgiven.
and when the enemy has your holy book held hostage,
what more is there to do but submit?
Author notes
ugh. too cathartic? we'll see.

i love the allusion to the little prince.
this was different from the others i've read. this is definitely a stand out.

i would mess a bit with the stanzas -
but all in all really great.

I love it.
One point though, in Le Petit Prince, it is translated to "Anything essential is invisible to the eyes; it is only with the heart that you can see clearly."
And 'rightly' is throwing me off.
Otherwise, I found this stunning. Carthartic is good.
Did you read Le Petit Prince in English or in French?

ha, the quote was from my head, so that's probably why it's weird. I read it first in english and then in spanish, oddly enough. I look forward to reading it in french though; I'll be taking it next year.

Ah.
I love French, so I'm biased against Spanish...
but it is a very good book.
