A Canvas of Hope

(My portrait captured during my ardors

to help others find life's desired fashions.)

Come to me, all those whose drapes of dreams

have had their expectation's embroidery frayed.

Seen the serenity's silky stitching sewn by vision's needle

unravel from being strained by despair's rips.

I offer unto them this glorious canvas of hope,

a weave of promise created on positivism's loom,

to hang upon the wall of your mind's castle

as a cherished carpet of change's textile,

that could inspire you to cloth yourself

in the fabric of confidence,

which through my nurturing veil of guidance

can make your residence of thought

adorned in the beauty of a new creation,

one of enchanting golden images in possibilities,

having the soft and assuring radiance

of bringing a soothing covering to the nakedness unto your need.

Thus my lips will offer this priceless linen of light,

such a pure raiment of prosperity's fashion,

helping shroud you in compassion's laces,

so you can rise dressed anew in a garment

worthy of your real and deserving essence.

Grant me then,

chance to give you the satin threads in anticipation,

enabling you to discard your rags of dismal toil

and put on a robe of golden rapture.

It is one that I, Louie DePalma, will prepare for you

in my dispatcher's tailor shop of rebirth,

where I have made so many hearts feel the joy

from wearing an attire of labor

full of such exquisite pleasure.

How it will become a creation

surely blessing in heaven's suit of bliss,

when you sit in one of my chariots

clad in the elation

over each fiber of pristine ecstasy

felt by stroking this tapestry of taxi euphoria.

I await your application for a fitting

where it will proudly add to the furnishings of you life,

being a vestment so elegant in contentment,

you shall feel as if you had donned

the stunning wardrobe of royalty.

I'm reading all of this in Louie's sterling Brooklyn accent. So I'm not "buying" it. The clothes, I mean. I know the tail of "The Emperor's New Clothes". It does not end well.

Louie, I love ya, but I'll buy my own clothes. Thanks anyway!

Again, though, is there a job that comes with this here
"wardrobe of royalty"? My husband used to drive a cab in New York City while in Graduate school. I'll send him in for a fitting.

By the way, this is hilarious!

I knew that when I asked you to suggest a good poem that you’d send me to a masterpiece. This poem is a tapestry of frayed dreams and you have woven them together to create a quilt of poetic perfection. As always in your work, the imagery is vivid and in this poem you have instilled emotion that captivates the reader. Bravo!

    Love,
    Amera♥
