I feel the earth rumble and shake violently beneath my feet,
before I could even blink the ground split in two
I was knocked off my feet,
I fell to the ground with a loud thud
My head smacked against the pavement,
and I lost conciousness
I awoke to the sound of sirens going off,
people screaming and crying out for help
I looked around me,
buildings everywhere had colapsed,
and vehicles smashed, some engulfed in flames
It looked like a scene from a movie,
people frantically running this way and that
paramedics rushing to the wounded,
police putting the dead in body bags
fire-fighters battling the raging flames,
rescuers digging beneath the rubble for survivors
After a few painstaking minutes, it became to much for me to bear,
and I walked home regardless of my injuries
Later that night after returning home I had discovered it had been a massive earthquake,
a 7.1 on the ricktor scale
It made world headlines,
but before long life was normal again
Except for those who lost loved ones,
nothing will return back to the way it was
Today marks an unforgettable tail of everyday heros,
and a day in history that the whole world greived
before I could even blink the ground split in two
I was knocked off my feet,
I fell to the ground with a loud thud
My head smacked against the pavement,
and I lost conciousness
I awoke to the sound of sirens going off,
people screaming and crying out for help
I looked around me,

Your descriptions in this are truly astounding. I could, see, feel, touch, touch and hear anything that you were describing as though it were me. You transport the reader into this earthquake and leave them gasping with the imagery and emotions. My favourite lines were:
It made world headlines,
but before long life was normal again
Except for those who lost loved ones,
nothing will return back to the way it was'
I don't really know why they just struck a chord inside me.
Thanks for sharing. Amazing write! -
I don't know. I'm not feeling this write. First of all, if its in this form, it should be rhyme.
The description is good but don't just tell us what you see, tell us how it makes you feel and tell us how people are feeling.
Thanks for entering, there's a few spelling errors -

I just realized I never formally commented but just through IMs. Anyway, this is a great poem. Very descriptive with vivid imagery. The hurt and pain of all is evident. I loved the ending too. Nice write my sweet daughter.

Very good write here
I had been travleing with my husband around then and this all happened the next day after we had left from there headed back to Texas . We drove over that same bridge that collapsed just 24 hours before the collaps

-
Did this really happen to you? It's very vivid.
