If I could cast a wish upon the dawn:
I would bend destiny
that I might be
forever within your reach.
Forever
where my soul so easily slips above your laughter,
lifts to paint the sky of welcomed hues,
comfortably settles secure amid contagious dreams.
Forever
in those moments where I forget the darkened clouds…
yesterdays that threaten tomorrow
fail to compete
and so diminish by your side.
If I could cast a wish upon an evening star,
even just one card to put in play:
I would line this road with love’s red petals
soft and young as evergreen leaves...
that your feet might never again stumble
across life’s harshness.
But I am only a simple man
crafting a tiny oasis out of words
protected by the weakest shields;
still,
I’ve left room enough for you.

What a tender work of magic you have penned here. There is nothing or no one better than a friend who feeds on genuine emotions of life and love. Your poem is soft and fragrant. What beauty in words is shared for all to breathe in. I love this poem. The wonder here is that it felt like you were speaking to asnd about me. No arrogance or ego in that last statement. I simply love poetry that speaks to the heart with dedication and an outpouring of love.
BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you for this entry and I wish you the best in the challenge.
Always ♥

Beautiful
and the poem has a tender and restrained passion well under imagistic control. This poem is a fine contribution to the love poems in English from Tudor times until this day.
The lady of whom you write is definitely worthy in so far as an AP friend can judge. Thank you and congratulations, Ken.

heartfelt through and through
What strength in conviction spoken with
tender tone; a gentle wonder at newfound hope.
You seem so at home with putting your intimate
thoughts to page, I envy that...for it is truly
the finest gift a poet can demonstrate. Blue
