Heart, Soul and Mind

What do I think is beautiful?
A mind receptive to the possibility
of love and redemption in a dark
and often hostile universe.
A soul which is capable
of forgiveness; which can feel
compassion for the suffering
of others, and a willingness
to accept all the lies
and trappings of our lives
for what they truly are--
then, and only then, can we
appreciate that beauty is formed
in the crucible of the willing heart.

    Reminds me of the part in The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, where Elizabeth Proctor says to John:

    "John, it came to naught that I should forgive, if you'll not forgive yourself."

    That's where your final line took me, and I agree wholeheartedly with the message. We must have true compassion in our hearts, or we are lost. Amen.

    ... poetical philosophy and I couldn't agree more with it! I should imagine that someone that thinks like this must also be a beautiful person! Accepting life with eyes wide open so as not to miss the rewards that even the smallest beauty can bring to one's heart and soul.

    Ths piece is a tall order! Forgiveness is the hardest part in my opinion.
