On Friday

On Friday last, I paced and thought
I have to find some work
to free myself from worries
and creditors who lurk

I thought perhaps a seashore drive
would give some peace of mind
To review the course of nature
its’ beauty there to find

I picked a spot and stopped the truck
got out a bit unsteady
Removed my shoes and headed east
my camera at the ready

I spied a lady sitting, lone
worshiping the breeze
Her eyes upon the fisherman
in water to his knees

I realized then what I must do
though little did she note
I moved behind and to the right
and here’s the words I wrote

O’ lady fair on patchwork quilt
an ocean at your feet
I wondered if  the gods would smile
and kindly let us meet

Perchance to say, “Hello”, one time
I was just passing through
Collecting random photographs
that’s when you came in view

I could not help but notice then
you were not there alone
Perhaps the man out fishing there
has claimed you as his own

It matters not that I was late
I really had no chance
But to take a photograph
and dream a sweet romance

I said goodbye and took my leave
my camera in tow
With some digital reminders
of what I used to know

    very good

Thanks for all your comments and taking the time to read them. I don't think I read this before. Very pretty, I loved the flow of words, and the way you put your heart into it

Never knew how really great you are at rhyme! Your meter and the flow is spot on! You will always have those special memories in picture form, so that when the right lady does come along, you will find her to be the brightest star in the sky! Leo, you don't have to look for love. Believe me, it will find you! You are very special and those who know you, can attest to that. You wear your heart on your sleeve and that is one of the things I cherish abut our friendship. Keep those words flowing. I, only by chance reconnected with the first guy I ever dated, in the 10th grade! Can you imagine, after 44 years! LIfe can be good. I was broke, living off my kids, trying to make ends meet, and voila!A mere phone call! Keep dreaming darling! Your day is coming!
    XOXO

Nothing better than to have a day doing just what we feel like doing. Photographing is one of my favourite things to do.
    LOvely poem Leo

    Your poem is ...

simply "adorable" and written in good form with a genuine naturalness of a true gentleman. It reads well and is fun! joy
