Don't tell me your same worries,
I've heard them all before.
Of summer storms and winter flurries.
Sometimes you're just a bore.
I'm sure you think that I'm too harsh,
because I speak my mind.
But I wont make your pillows plush,
sometimes life isn't kind.
You whine about the trees out back,
how they might catch on fire.
And every time I say you're safe,
you just call me a liar.
You do not need to fuss so much,
It doesn't really matter.
The buried Pennsylvania Dutch
don't seem like they will scatter.
If we die, too soon or late,
if you, I cannot save,
children will pass the threshold gate
and dance upon our grave.
Because despite your mind's entreats,
life doesn't end in death.
People will still walk the streets
and stop to take a breath.
