Pigs Pearls' - An Epilogue.

He came to them through curtains red,
And put thoughts of myths into their head.
His eyes shone blue, his hair spun gold,
He told them the secrets that magpies hold.
Velvet words held them tight,
And gave them comfort, if just for the night,
As he sunk into the shadow of the wings,
They waited for the start of better things.

She came to them from temples old,
And though her heart beat, her eyes were cold.
In a trance, she crawled alone,
Her fingers were but skin and bone.
She explained to them, it was not their choice,
He body as sharp as her failing voice.
That they didn't know where their children had fled,
After they found monsters don't hide under beds.

I watched them fall in love again,
As easy as the tumbling rain.
And though I won't change it for the world,
I wish I'd watched that story unfold.
From the other side of the stage,
And from eyes that now will never age.
Or a mind that was and will forever be,
A slave to those that I envy.

When you consider the end, perhaps it mattered not,
That you read my pages of action and thought.
Though I never feigned kindness or heart,
And never pretended to have played more than my part.
Honesty means so little these days,
Perhaps it was preferable to have died in the blaze.

Author notes

been meaning to write this for a while and though it's not at all how i imagined, i like it.
an epilogue to a short story of mine about an acting group called 'Pigs Pearls'' the first verse reffuring to the MC, the second to the primadonna and the third and forth from the perspective of the author (a stage hand).
the story ends with the play house burnt to the ground.

Please tell me what you think

    The last stanza is amazing
"Though I never feigned kindness or heart,
And never pretended to have played more than my part.
Honesty means so little these days,"
    Enjoyed the read
