Time fades the memories,
as I take another drink,
and my mind wanders in thought,
but I don’t know what to think.
Juke box lullabies hypnotize,
I may get a subtle wink,
but I’m so far along my way,
I’m sure my ship will sink.
I wasn’t always like this,
but time has left a scar,
and the more I try to change it,
the more I feel I’ve gone to far.
Dreams that once held meaning,
have all simply faded away,
and the love I could not borrow,
has left me without words to say.
A hero for one night,
as I buy another round,
I slip home in silence,
my feet don’t touch the ground
Street lamps dance for me,
in the shadows of the night,
as I wander in aimless stride,
ever lured by shinning light.
I wasn’t always like this,

wow - poetically over the top good yet so sad, it makes me just wanna give you a hug, and tell ya that: what isn't wasn't meant to be -- what is will be. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I guess what I mean is love always finds a way -- usually when you least expected. Sometimes people get caught up in what they could have had, they don't see what they can have.
Your poem/song -- reads so smooth and gliding that carries the reader along with the imagery.
