He was in the middle of a Happy Meal
outside McDonald’s when she walked
up.
They boarded the bus together.

She said she’d found a room. In her
girlfriend’s / father’s / professor’s
house.
And couldn’t have overnight guests.
He hadn’t asked about that.
When they got to the station she told
him she was back home to St Catharines.
To her true boyfriend.
