everything seemed perfect
but it all went out of hand
we were running from what could have been
instead of what was there
we all wanted the same thing
we all wanted to go
but you flew out of my pocket
before i could start the show
and oh,
they said we'd brought it upon ourselves
and we never even saw it coming
and so,
she didn't even try to tell
that we'd begun this new incision
oh,
i took it out on
myself
everything was broken
and then it all took root
you tried to find a new horizon
you didn't want to shoot
i told you we were lucky
that you shouldn't be ashamed
all of this was beautiful
we just wanted it to take take take
and oh,
you told me this went so well
that we were destined for this moment
but no,
you tore it apart to yell
that this wasn't my chance to love you
so,
you laughed on my way to
hell
all of us were clapping for the little tots with little land
what was left of all of this and what we couldn't stand
we didn't take the time to make it
all pull together
and we threw it in a blender
just to make it look a little better
oh,
you took this upon yourself
to break away my last condition
so,
we tore it all up and well
this was our last chance for wishing
oh,
you laughed
as i
fell
Author notes
this was my attempt at doing the same style of missed the boat by modest mouse.
i stole the title and "you laughed on my way to hell" [kind of] from the song.
the actual line is "we laughed on our ay to hell".
i did my best.
i love this song.
