Dainty transparent shingles
filter brilliance and dust
like colored glass, prismatic:
a mosaic of fluttering wings
set adrift to the tune of winds;
sailing through shafts of sunlight
these souls of fleeting beauty incarnate
reflect ephemeral charm.
Though summer scents weigh heavily,
drowning their senses silly with delight,
each Monarch, Viceroy, and Admiral
finally receives coveted orisons.
Author notes
Psyche: Greek word for both "soul" and "butterfly". Monarchs, Viceroys, and Admirals are species of North American butterflies. "Orisons" are requests to higher powers, or prayers.

"filter brilliance and dust"
To me, butterflies are Nature's way of being brilliant. This line described them, as how I would see them in my city. Magnificent!!
"drowning their senses silly with delight"
Sounds fun!!
