Angel Company

I prayed the Lord would send me
someone I could call friend
He answered with a smile and said,
“I have one here to lend”

“I saved the best for you, my son,
but a promise you must keep
To take good care of her until
your eyes forever sleep”

“She is a tad bit fragile still,
her wings have not yet formed
I suggest you hold her close
and keep her nice and warm”

I cast my eyes on my new friend
and tears began to fall
“Oh Lord, you have bestowed on me
the greatest gift of all”

“And now, my son, it’s up to you
this covenant uphold
This angel’s flight is earthly bound
until her wings can grow”

On bended knees I thanked my Lord
for being good to me
On heaven’s path I find myself
with angel company

    Beautiful

Leo this is a really wonderful peice of writing, it flows beautifully and the words paint the most innocent picture, reminds me of a bird with broken wings or a newborn baby who needs to be held and nurtured. Well done my dear freind xxx cheryl

    Ah Leo ...

I cannot help thinking of the little angel that is on the way into this world ... What a wondrous expectation to have ... such a soft new little baby in the family ...

But of course: your poem may be read on many levels. And as always, you touched many hearts. Like a real angel do, too.

    Thank you, Amigo.

This is such a gentle, beautiful poem, Leo It reminded me of a father with a new baby daughter (the unformed angel wings) but equally might be for a lover who is not quite perfect.

You've written an exquisite piece, my friend

Leo, this is the most soft and gentle poem! You deserve an angel! Ask and yee shall receive! Has anyone told you today how special you are to me, and so many others? We get to read these words from your heart and soul. What could be better than this? Nothing!

I remember praying for the same thing a few years ago, and now I have Ken. I hope your angel is as sweet as he is Leo.
    This is a beautiful poem.
