There were corpses sleeping
Where we once did lie
Beside the sailors
Beneath the sky
Their bodies were stoic
Rigid and flat
No warmth could touch them
A beauty turned black
He looked at me
As I stared at them
Fascinated by their tragedy
He dropped my hand
We adjusted their skirts
Covered their thighs
Anger now lived here
Where two lovers did die
There were corpses sleeping
Where we once did lie
Beside the sailors
Beneath the sky
Author notes
