Thoughts and Current Ramblings - Love

There is one word in the English language that causes pain and also healing. It causes lives to never be the same - both for the good and bad. That word is love.

So why is it that the one thing people crave the most is also the thing many people fear the most?

First off, you cannot love someone else if you don’t first love yourself. It’s near impossible. If you attempt to love someone when you have such a negative view of yourself, I don’t see a very bright outcome for the relationship.

Secondly, at most importantly, I don’t think enough people know what real love is. Real love is selfless and sacrificial. It isn’t about what you want or about what you can get out of the relationship, but how you can best and most genuinely show the person your desire to see them do well in life (and vice versa).

Love isn’t sex. Love is much more than gifts and saying “I love you”.

Love is a lifestyle and something that even in the hardest times, you prevail.

Nowadays, love has become a joke.

It is arguably the most misused word in any language.

You cannot understand love if you can’t grasp this - love is about accepting her without make-up, loving him when he doesn’t pick up his messes, and helping him/her through his/her time of strife and tears.

Lives could be saved and emotions settled if you knew the importance of real love in this broken and often lonely world.

Is this philosophy?? liked it a lot and believed every single word, too but still don't know if my love is true or not
I think everyone that cares for somebody should read this and stop for a moment and think..I think this would help him/her know if they are true lovers or just spending the time.
What made me think a lot is "First off, you cannot love someone else if you don’t first love yourself. It’s near impossible. If you attempt to love someone when you have such a negative view of yourself, I don’t see a very bright outcome for the relationship.".I never thought of this before. You were right about it,I guess
This write would be so useful to me in the future so I'm bookmarking it.
Thanks a lot for adding it to the reading list and letting us(the group) read it.

Thanks for entering the contest. This is a very thoughtful write which brings out a lot of truths about love many people arguably overlook. I particularly like the parts "love is about accepting her without make-up, loving him when he doesn’t pick up his messes" and also the last line. Thank you again!

For me, Love is never a joke. I hate it when people take it as one, and laugh at me. I say "I LOVE YOU" to a guy. and he laughs. man does that hurt me! OK done ranting and raving! lol, loved reading it though! -

I agree... Sometimes, the random ramblings are the most profound, and there was such truth in this. Love and pain truly are one in the same entity, for both are tangible, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced both.

Admittedly, I'm not my own biggest fan. I have moments where I'm like, "I suck at EVERYTHING!", and this is one of them. But I'm only human, and he loves me regardless... After all, love is being able to see an imperfect person perfectly... There's a tongue-twister for ya!

Anyway, well done, and thanks for sharing this with us. My best to you, now and always!

    In love and light,

    This is so true. Love is so over-rated nowdays, no-one appreciates it anymore. I may be young but I know what love is and it's what you say it is, that selflessness and caring, not giving a damn about what happens to you, just as long as the person you love is happy and cared for. And I know you speak the truth when you say this;

Love isn’t sex. Love is much more than gifts and saying “I love you”. Love is a lifestyle and something that even in the hardest times, you prevail.

For me love definitely was not and is not sex (being about 7 when I started loving this person) And I know I never said I love you, I never gave any gifts (except for birthday and the occaisional Christmas presents) In fact I never even hugged them before the day I said goodbye, or if I did I don't remember. But that was love, we'd do anything for each other. Give up anything. And maybe I'm nuts but for me that was love.

Sorry for the ramble, just trying in my rather random way to express what I felt about this little piece.

    so true

I have looked deep into myself in others trying to find love but found only small traces of what i hope may become love. These are some very true thoughts you are having and i agree with them fully but another thought that i have found is that love is definatly not a first sight thing and it grows and blooms once planted between two people. I hope you find or have already found the love you speak so truely.

Aye, my brother is full of much wisdom this evening. Love bites! I think I'll make that a bumper sticker. These words are much more than ramblings hon. They are very great insightful and profound statements. Wonderful work.

    Warmest,
    Mylee
