Imagination

Imagination

I see an angel within the great gnarled tree,
her wings spread wide and soaring through the land
to sprinkle angel dust for you and me -
a dress of gold that glows so bright and grand.

Perhaps a dancer gracing the stage, to thrill
the crowds with twists and turns in rhythmic moves
and not a sound is heard, their voices still -
but then applause erupts - the crowd approves.

Maybe a genie, in his bottle prison
will grant your dearest wishes once set free
and, on a magic carpet having risen,
you’ll fly to faery lands across the sea.

Let your imagination carry you
to see beyond the norm of what you view.

Joan Benecke July 27th 2008

Author notes

If you look closely you can see the angel on the left with arms stretched
you can see her head and wings. Or she could be a dancer.
the Genies head with the turban on is in the middle and the man on the magic carpet
right at the top. Well, I can anyway. What can you see?

    A beautiful, imagainative creation, Angelica.

From my vantage point I see a forceful swirl of gold,
touched with antiquity, but looking to the future.

That is indeed imagination at work. Your poem is a creative companion to the photo. I see a dancer arching backwards on the left. I se the head of a horned lizard on the fight. I bet if I look a while I can see several things...then again if I have a big glass of Moxie I bet I can see all kinds of things without even looking at the photo!

Great idea for a sonnet. Some day I might try one, but it's a bit intimidating.

Ahhh Yem, If you keep looking at it More images can be seen, I see the wizard on the right too and then it turns into a bird with a big beak maybe an eagle,I can see a ladies face with red hair.A lady in a long dress walking with a man on that really thick piece before it goes up the left arm .I would love to have seen the rest of the tree.

    Dear Bea,

Although it is now some years since I attended Bigmammajen's class "What I See", her teaching is still ingrained into my perception in that one should look through the outer form to discern the inner elements and exercise the imagination with free rein to create its own imagery from what one outwardly and inwardly perceives.
Your interpretations from this picture are evidence of the deep inner sight with which you are blest which combines with your fertile imagination to see beyond the outer shell and reveal visions which, to others, may be denied.
Ability to express such insights in crafted verse is indeed a worthy and wonderful gift.

Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
