Denouement

Missing image

I cannot answer you now,

for I am lost

in lingering tides

& tasks of woe,

wearied by these moments

that pass by, unrestrained.

What is intended

can never be

altered -

what isn't

cannot be changed.

Resistance & persistence

are futile efforts

at humbled humanity

holding onto the horizon

with hope,

while determination

can be designed with discovery

or merely accepted

with gracious tenure

as we dance delicately

towards dawn,

harvesting hues

from a golden sky,

resplendent with softness

& surrender.

I cannot answer you now,

for I am adrift

upon this azure light,

unwilling to release

this soulful surging

of memory

far from the grasp of

this glittering night...

Night Hope ~ most recent posting

I joined AP on June 15, 2004 ~ on chasingtheday's birthday, no less!

Photographer: Ansel Adams - "Bridalveil Falls"

Picture courtesy of poetryality (& yes, it was already posted before I saw the contest!) lol

denouement - n 1: the outcome of a complex sequence of events
2: the final resolution of the main complication of a literary or dramatic work.

In the past 2 months, I've been through so many changes, I cannot begin to explain; some have been health issues, some work, some family, some personal. I'm sorry I'm not around to interact or to comment on poetic works - I'm quite tired & have little time or energy to spare these days. I do check in once in awhile & read what I can. Take care of each other, my Friends. I'm still trying to get things in order. You are all present in the better thoughts that I have.

You hooked me right away and I read the whole thing slowly, with bated breath. So good it aches.

    WE Love YOU Wanda!

Your poem strikes so many chords in my heart. The language usage is stellar as usual, and the flow is soft, lyrical, and alluring. Your poem reflects the "moment". As we know moments pass, they pass swiftly, and there is nothing we can do to contain them. I noticed a comment that suggested, "you keep trying". Guess that poet is not really well versed on your efforts here at AP and in life. There's no way you will do anything less than the best because that is who you are.

Wiser words are hard to find. Beautifully somber, with realisim chalked throughout. Your poetry always leaves me in awe. Somehow, I knew my Favorites would make this contest a task for me. I would have expected no less.

Thank you for this entry dear sister/friend. Come here when you can, we will always be glad to see you, and welcome you with love and lots of hugs.

I wish you the best in this challenge and in life.

BTW...We have a Bridal Veil Falls here in Cleveland Metroparks, I was there a couple of weeks ago, and it was nearly dried up. Also, you know I love Ansel Adams.

    Always ♥

I so know the pain and anxiety, dear one. Your words set deeply in my heart. Sending big hugs to you, Wanders! Take all the time you need to heal yourself and "settle" in your new beginning. Beautifully penned, as always. Love you Wander Woman!! I will keep the candle lit, and you in my prayers and thoughts.

I know you've been through so much in your life, but you continue to amaze me with your compassion and poetry.
This one is so poignant and as usual, stunning in use of poetic language.

    Drifting

Feels as if it was written just before falling asleep. It murmurs so gently...

    "harvesting hues
    from a golden sky"

Softly, softly, caught the moment - perfectly!

As long as you're in "the light" and as long as you know that we are here, then it's okay, my friend... soon everything will be blue like morning again (and not the blue of night). You hang in there. 's to you across time and sand, Vlindertjie.

This new journey; this slow turn and walk away from all that was common and known, has to weigh heavy footsteps carefully chosen.... I can not answer you now...indeed, no, and those of us who know, know that once the eyes turn to the horizon and you can see over this huge hump, poetry will pitter patter along perfectly. I love you, gf.
