The Mad Hatter's Dance

I saw him once staring into space,
mumbling something about the human race
long hair hiding crystal eyes
with a wry grin, that belies
the brilliance boiling beneath a madmans face

I saw him later, making noises alone
thunderous sounds, with torso prone
behind a wall of cylinders black
a pair of sticks to press the attack
the angry child now a lonely man grown

I saw him then, with a trenchcoat and hat
long hair tied, a little more fat
smoke circling round the ghosts of rage
so much had pressed upon his age
but inside a glow spoke of more than that

I saw him again, in a dream
he came calling to my scream
across the years and miles told
across the time of ages old
in the darkness i saw his brilliance gleam

I saw him come, to be by my side
to take me on a wild ride
though passions and mysteries untold
two lives reborn, young and old
anger and pain melting with the tide

I see him now, right next to me
the brilliant madness of our glee
no more anger no more fear
no more pain as we draw near
a new dawn, in perfect harmony

I'll see him then, years from today
how and where, I cannot say
together we make this crazy life
he is my mate, come glory or strife
and i would want it any other way

I'll see him again, when our time is done
as the this life fades as the setting sun
with aching bones we'll lie down to dust
while making love, until we rust
our crazy adventure, has just begun

I'll see him in some future show
and we'll be crazy this I know
whether in the crib, or nextdoor to me
or at a school, thats where he'll be
because lives are one, and this i know

I'll see the madness through the matter
and our uncounted lives of endless clatter
time and time again we'll laugh in wonder
at this amazing cosmic blunder
we're one, we are, my sweet Mad Hatter

You'll see it makes no sense, perchance
to walk in circles, within this dance
a lunatic waltz from life to life
sometimes the husband, sometimes the wife
but when it comes to true love....

nothing is really ever left to chance
