the sway on Earth all but benign,
and that it is Gods great design
to cleanse the world and make it shine.
The date it ends is in debate,
and many say it is too late,
while others trust in hope and fate,
the storms and quakes increase in rate.
Now I will be the first to say
I fear that I will die one day,
but I don't think that some time may
the planets line up in that way.
You can however still believe
in stories crazy minds conceive,
created only to deceive
the minds of those who are naive.
I know that people out there think
my theory and my words stink,
but let's not balance on the brink
while we await the planet sync.

Author notes
I have written doomsday poems before, and as I stated in the comments then, I do not believe in all the end-of-days theories. You might not like the poem, as it may not fit into your frame, but I can not say what you want to hear. If you don't like it, throw it away, and forget you ever read it. But you did. Thank you. Ommmm....
Edit: Swapped third and fourth line of second stanza to make the poem flow better. Changed the third stanza slightly to make a perfect quadruple mono rhyme. Fixed some minor typos, and revised some of the punctuation.

Thanks, Linda!
Yeah, you are absolutely right, those who believe in themselves and the world we all live in, long for a "better" place, ultimately to get there, something horrible has to happen first, right?
Actually, I had no high hopes to win a trophy of any kind for this poem, as it was kind of a protest to the contest, thus my comments to the poem itself. I was surprised when I got the bronze! When it comes to poetry, I just let it flow naturally...

Great flow and rhyme here, a strange little message. Congrtulations on the bronze trophy, and I was pleased to see a Nick Cave quote here - have you read 'The Angel and the Ass'?

Thanks, pania!
It is indeed a strange little message. I was happily surprised to read that I won the bronze, something I had not fathomed in my wildest dreams, based on what I read out of the contest text... Nick Cave is one of my favorite artists, his dark and gloomy, yet realistic and down to earth texts is great to listen to. And no, I have not read "The Angel and the Ass". Who has written it?

Hello.
I think your rhythm and rhyme is done well, and it flows well. Nothing read forced to me. On your personal beliefs; not for me to comment on or dismiss, none of my business. As for the "OOMMmmm", it is a gate opener and closer, as well as creating resonance within the body when chanted properly for certain benefits. Also it is meant to a be a sound that living things at a certain state emanate.
As for alignment that will happen, what it brings who knows, depends on the scope of your research and of course your own inclination. Congratulations on the Silver Trophy.
My regards.

Thanks
for the comment, and the applause. Actually I won only bronze, I think the silver winner has withdrawn his or her poem from the contest after winning, for whatever reason.
I do not say I do not believe in meditation, or other techniques to create resonance in the body and soul, all I try to say in this poem is that I do not believe in the end-of-days prophecies.
Thanks!

Thank you
for the bronze trophy. Quite frankly I was surprised when I got the message, I did not think my poem would even be considered a finalist at all! I edited it slightly to fix a few mistakes, you can re-read it if you like (alterations mentioned in the comments). Thanks again!

I read this poem three times...and I read your author notes.
Before I can really comment on this write....you mentioned in your author notes that you don't believe in "all the end of days theories"....are you saying that you don't believe that Christ will return?....I just need some input so I can truly comment on what you poem is actually meaning.....does that make sense?.

Hi Debbie!
That makes perfect sense. To answer you comment about if I believe in the return of Jesus, I must say, I do not know. I believe Jesus lived, and that he did stuff which has been described as miracles, and signs from God. But I do not believe the world will end like predicted on any given date, or by any given (unlikely) event in foreseeable future. Humankind will survive, even a new world war. I finish my cryptic answer with a quote from a song...
"Time Jesum Transeuntum Et Non Riverentum. Fear the passage of Jesus, for he will not return." - Nick Cave -

We all have are a opinion on what we believe...but where my heart stands...there will be a day when Jesus will return. And all the sins of this world in which it stands will suffer it's outcome. I have nothing.....though I appreciate what I do have. And what I believe is that this is just a temperary time for us. This is not our home. Our home is in heaven which awaits are arrival....when Jesus returns. And he will return.
My heart goes out to those who don't believe that. And what I hope is that you will see the light that I see. And your belief will strengthen your soul.
"Nick Cave"...I have never heard of him.....which is okay with me. He is a man...not someone that I should be concern of. The "Bible" shows to me the answers of what is to be...and that is all I am looking for.
Thank you for your expression and your words....even though I don't agree.
