Lovers Undone

Fruitful Nile and her healing waters,
Hapi allowing us some grain,
Today we have animals to slaughter,
And hopefully pharaoh will use his brain.

We will give Hapi our meat,
With hopes of another abundant year,
I watch pharaoh take his gilded seat,
But this will be the day I fear.

Pharaoh is ill,
And we all want nothing but the best,
His secret-but-not will
Begs that he be laid to rest.

The wailers are coming,
They're not too far away,
Musicians are drumming,
We knew this was the day.

He's falling asleep,
Osiris is preparing his bed,
As I watch his consciousness go to the deep,
I can feel that his body will be soon dead.

Paraded to the Valley of the Kings,
To where all of my lovers have gone,
Our whole crowd sings,
Saying that we will never be undone.

Going back to the healing waters is the last thing I shall do,
My heart has been broken enough, and Ma'at says my life is through.
