Today's Society

Within confinement I live
Mind wanders within boundaries
Thoughts play squash on these walls
Time bounces sitting on the racket ball

Wings clipped
Life lives in shackles
Merriment laughs from outside
As we perform inside
The every day act

Tick-tock! Tick-tock! Clock strikes
It’s that time once again
For the Clown in the box
To pop its head out in the open
Take a peak of passing by moments
Before pushed back deep inside

Through the days
Wobbling in the truck’s journey
Recycled every time and again
Taped tight all around
Leaving no escape
For mechanical life
Bubble wrapped with empty society norms
Carefully it’s placed in the stock
Stacked with other boxed clowns
Waiting for their turn
To perform for the daily show

I live within claustrophobic world
Lost alone in the crowded streets
For everyone to play soccer
With boxed clown before
City collects the trash for recycle

Society of today’s
Has defined thinking within the box
As daily norm for us to live

Author notes

A closed box reminds me of us - the society we have created for ourselves.

Another different take on the closed box, very creative thinking and thought provoking poetry, I am sorry it has taken me quite so long to get to commenting on all the entries in what was one of my most enjoyable contests to date.

I like where you take this extended metaphor. Well written!
